Megan Surniak, LSW

Chemical Dependency Counselor

Megan Surniak is a Licensed Social Worker. She received her Master’s in Social Work degree from Cleveland State University with additional certifications in Chemical Dependency Counseling. She is currently working toward her independent license.

Megan has worked with clients in a variety of settings including community mental health agencies, homeless shelters, vocational training programs, and an inpatient/outpatient drug & alcohol treatment center. Through these experiences she has provided case management, facilitated groups, and provided therapy to both groups and individuals experiencing a range of mental health conditions and chemical dependencies.

Understanding that therapy is unique to each individual, Megan harbors a safe space that promotes growth and meets clients where they are. Using a client-centered, strengths-based approach to empower her clients, Megan’s aim is to make each individual feel heard and work with them to reach their goals. While drawing mostly from cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness, sessions are individualized to clients and their unique needs.

When not in session, Megan enjoys gardening, reading, spending time outdoors, seeing live music, and planning her next adventure.
