Emily Bezilla, CT
Intern Counselor
Emily Bezilla has a two-year technical school degree in pastry arts from the International Culinary Arts and Sciences Institute (ICASI).
After working in the industry for a time, she decided to return to school and shift careers, earning a bachelor’s degree in counseling and art therapy (CAT) from Ursuline College.
She is still enrolled at Ursuline, now pursuing a master’s degree in CAT. As part of her degree programs, she has become well-versed in a variety of traditional art media (e.g. painting, drawing, and ceramics) as well as less traditional media (e.g. fiber arts, handcrafts, movement/dance, etc.).
At the end of her graduate program at Ursuline (Fall of 2025), Emily will take the National Counselor’s Exam to earn her Licensed Professional Counselor designation and will continue to pursue a Registered Art Therapist designation. She hopes one day to incorporate her previous degree in pastry with her current master’s degree and practice culinary art therapy.
Emily is looking forward to working with a variety of populations. She has experience working with children and young adults with autism in a school-based setting (pre-k to high school). Recently, she worked with older adults (ages 64+) with dementia in a life plan community setting.
Her therapeutic style is primarily person-centered, viewing people as agents of their own healing process while offering unconditional positive regard and empathy.
In her personal time, Emily enjoys relaxing with her family and friends, taking her dog on hikes, going to concerts, baking, and art making.
